Peter Boyd
SPECIALIST ORTHODONTIST

Originally from Northern Ireland, Dr Boyd qualified as a dentist from the University of Glasgow in 2002.
Following qualification, Dr Boyd worked in both general practice and hospital placements in both Newcastle upon tyne and New Zealand.
Dr Boyd entered specialist orthodontic training at Leeds Dental Institute and York District Hospital in 2007. He gained membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2010 and a Master of Dental Science degree from The University of Leeds in the same year.
Dr Boyd has worked in specialist orthodontic practice in Yorkshire since 2010 and has an interest in all areas of orthodontics but has developed a special interest in adult orthodontics, particularly in the provision of clear and lingual braces. He keeps himself updated with regular attendance specialist training meetings and is a registered Invisalign Provider.
Outside of work Dr Boyd’s young family keeps him busy. He enjoys several outdoor sports and is a keen cyclist.
Andrew Shelton

After completing his undergraduate dental training in Newcastle in 2001 Andrew progressed through vocational training and general professional training before embarking on two and half years of maxillofacial surgery training, prior to starting his specialist orthodontic training in 2006.
Andrew completed his specialist orthodontic training in the Yorkshire region in 2009, following international experience, winning the only British Orthodontic Society Medal for excellence in clinical treatment in that year. In 2011 he qualified as an Orthodontic Consultant. He also currently sits on the editorial board of the Orthodontic Update journal.
Andrew holds a part-time consultant position at Montagu Hospital, Mexborough where he is involved in complex treatments, teaching and research. Andrew has interests in all areas of orthodontics, including with a special interest in aesthetic and lingual appliance systems.
When he is not spending time with his young family, Andrew continues to enjoy his lifelong passion of football and winter sports, although his failing knees are pointing him towards the golf course. His knees, however, have held up recently for him to complete numerous 100km non-stop races across the national parks.
Michael Amos

Mick is originally from Kent but moved to Yorkshire in 1993 to undertake his undergraduate dental training. He completed his dental degree at Leeds Dental Institute in 1998.
After working as a children’s dentist in Australia for a year he returned to Yorkshire to continue his studies in oral surgery and general dental practice and entered specialist orthodontic training in 2007 at the Leeds Dental Institute and York District Hospital.
Mick completed specialist training in 2010 and has since worked exclusively in specialist orthodontic practice in the region.
In that time, he has developed a keen interest in treating adolescent patients with jaw discrepancies and using discreet orthodontic appliances such as clear aligners and lingual appliances (braces on the inside of the teeth).
Mick is married and has a busy family life with four young children who take up most of his spare time. He does, however, find time for the occasional game of golf now that his rugby playing days are behind him.
Paul Scott

Paul studied dentistry at Leeds University qualifying in 1999. He then spent several years gaining a broad postgraduate education, working in both NHS and private general dental practice, community and the hospital service in both the UK and New Zealand, with posts in paediatric dentistry and maxillofacial surgery.
He undertook his postgraduate orthodontics training at Guys Hospital London, where he was awarded the degree of Master of Science in Orthodontics (King’s College London) and Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2007, as well as winning the University Teachers’ Award for the best research project at the 2007 British Orthodontic Conference.
Paul has worked as a specialist in North Leeds since 2007 and in 2009 undertook further consultant training, treating cases requiring multidisciplinary care, such as hypodontia, cleft lip and palate and orthognathic surgery at Leeds Dental Institute and York District Hospital. He was awarded a Fellowship in Orthodontics by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2012, recognising his training to consultant orthodontist level. As well as working as a specialist orthodontist at Yorkshire Orthodontics, Paul holds a part-time consultant post with a special interest in cleft lip and palate at Doncaster Royal Infirmary and the Montagu Hospital, Mexborough.
Paul has published extensively in dental and orthodontic literature and is currently a reviewer for a number of orthodontic journals.
Paul’s main clinical interests are adult orthodontics, the treatment of patients with cleft lip and palate, orthognathic surgery and teaching.
