Dr Virginia Rootkin-Gray

Virginia started her dental undergraduate training at Guy’s in London in 1994 and followed that with a broad range of posts in oral surgery, maxillofacial surgery, paediatric dentistry, orthodontics and general practice, as well as publishing in dental literature and gaining her MFDS qualification.

She was accepted for specialist orthodontic training at the Eastman Dental Institute in London in 2002. During her training programme, she gained an MSc in Orthodontics and Membership in Orthodontics of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Virginia adores her work. “Every person I see has different needs and my days are spent creating smiles for people of all ages”, she says. “My particular interest is treating adolescents with aesthetic appliances. Indeed, there is a growing demand from our younger patients to have inconspicuous appliances so that treatment can happen as if by magic.”

Dr Sarah Franks

Sarah is a Registered Specialist with the General Dental Council. She joined Orthodontic Excellence knowing that the Patient Journey reflected her own clinical high values. She works with fixed appliances, specialises in children's appliances and works with Invisalign™ & Spark ™ both adult & children's cases.

Education

Sarah studied Dentistry at the University of Birmingham, where she was elected President of the University Dental Student Society for 2 terms. She was also the President of the British Dental Student Association, representing the interests of students nationally. During her undergraduate studies, Sarah was awarded several prizes in recognition of her work, including the Aesthetic Dentistry and Photography prize, the Leadership and Professionalism Award, The Sands Cox John Rippon Memorial prize for best elective report and was nominated for the Dentsply Clinical Excellence Prize. Sarah graduated with Clinical Distinction, in acknowledgement of the high standard of her clinical work as an undergraduate.

After graduating, Sarah undertook placements in dental hospital posts to further her knowledge in the fields of Restorative Dentistry, Oral Surgery, Paediatrics and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, gaining insight into the management of multidisciplinary cases.

Sarah returned to the Midlands to complete her specialist training in Orthodontics at Solihull Hospital and Birmingham Dental Hospital. Following this training she was awarded a Master's degree and a Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.

Sarah is committed to providing a high standard of orthodontic care to children and adults. She is often complimented by patients, due to her calming nature putting at ease anxious patients. Sarah looks forward to starting your journey to straighter teeth.

Dr Peter Huntley

Peter began the full-time study of orthodontics in 1986 and after qualifying as a specialist in 1989, immediately set up the Warwick Road practice. Since then, the pursuit of excellence in orthodontics has been his passion. Peter has always been involved in teaching orthodontics, including a total of seven years as a part-time clinical lecturer at The Eastman and then The Royal London Hospitals.

Early in his career, Peter developed a special interest in adult orthodontics and leads a two-day biennial course on this topic. He has been invited to lecture on numerous occasions by the British and Irish Orthodontic Societies as well as by the universities of Bristol, Birmingham and Manchester.

Peter is one of just three UK mentors appointed by 3M to teach the use of the Incognito lingual appliance. He was the winner of the British Orthodontic Society’s ‘Against the Odds’ award in 2007, came third in 2006 and was runner-up in 2009.
